Riley Class Learning ☺️🍁

by Fazana Ahmed | Sep 14, 2026 | English, Imaginative, Maths, Problem Solving, Riley Class 2026/27

This week was our first full week in Year 4, and it has been very exciting! We have been learning lots of new things and getting used to our new classroom routines.

Last week we created our class contract. Together, we discussed how we want our classroom to feel and how we can help everyone learn. We agreed on expectations such as being respectful, responsible, kind and ready to learn. By creating our class contract together, we have made sure that everyone has a voice and understands how we can work together.

In English and Whole Class Reading, we have been reading Richard III. We explored the characters, discussed important events in the story and developed our understanding of the text through reading activities. We have also been practising our comprehension skills and learning new vocabulary. We enjoyed writing a diary entry as Richard because we got to show off our writing skills and write about the events we read about. We also enjoyed roleplaying the events in our story. Here are some pictures of our amazing freeze frames.

In Maths, we have been reviewing our column addition method. We practised setting out our calculations carefully, making sure each digit was placed in the correct place value column and remembering to regroup when necessary. We enjoyed our problem solving lesson today as we had to work systematically to solve our problem.
