Riley 4 class has been exploring the exciting world of philosophical thinking by learning how to ask big, meaningful questions.
In their P4C lessons, the children practise wondering about life and the world around them, and they have discovered that a good question does not always have one right answer. Instead, philosophical questions invite us to think deeply and listen carefully to others’ ideas. Over the course of the year, the classroom has become a place where curiosity is celebrated and everyone makes full use of their thinking and oracy skills.

This week, the students created their own philosophical questions, such as “What makes something right or wrong?” and, “Can happiness be shared?” These thoughtful questions will soon be displayed around the school building to inspire everyone. As children and adults walk through the corridors, they will be encouraged to pause and reflect.

Riley have shown that even young learners can think in powerful and creative ways, so we are proud to share their questions with the whole school community. Please join in by reading them . . . choosing one to ponder, and perhaps discuss with someone at home . . . then share your thoughts with us at p4C@lansburylawrence.org
