Shireen class have been working hard to develop their thinking and communication skills in our Philosophy for Children (P4C) lessons. P4C is a way of learning, helping children to think deeply, share ideas and listen to one another. It encourages children to become confident thinkers through the 4Cs: Caring, Collaborative, Creative and Critical.
Our focus has been on Resilience. We began by challenging ourselves to stand on one leg for 10 seconds. Some of us found it tricky, and we talked about how it felt when we wobbled or couldn’t quite manage it. This led to a discussion about resilience — trying again even when something feels difficult. The children shared brilliant ideas about not giving up, taking a deep breath, and encouraging themselves.

Next, we explored how being collaborative can help us succeed. We worked with a partner to help each other balance. Some children held hands, some stood close for support, and others offered kind words of encouragement.
We reflected on how it felt when we were both resilient and collaborative. The children noticed that challenges feel easier when we work together, and that helping a friend can make us feel proud and connected.
