It is the holy month of Ramadan. This is when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. Muslims also focus on making better choices and increase their good deeds.

Maths – Algebra
In Maths, we learnt about Algebra. Algebra is when letters or shapes represent unknown numbers for example, 5t + 6 = 21. We would work this out by doing the inverse. First, you have to subtract 6 from 21 and then divide the answer by 5. 21 – 6 = 15. 15/5= 3. So t = 3.

Today, we looked at this cupcake image. We discussed what we noticed. We first noticed that there is 10 cupcakes on each side. The first one has 4 at the top and 6 at the bottom. The second one has 5 cupcakes at the top and 5 at the bottom. There is 20 cupcakes and the box holds 24 cupcakes altogether. The class discussed the questions below. We all had slightly different answers as we interpreted the images differently.

English – Alma

In English, we have been looking at a animation called Alma. This video is about a girl called Alma who finds a duplicate doll of herself in a mysterious shop. We rewrote the opening of this story. This is mine.

One frosty morning, Alma was skipping through the icy street of London. Suddenly, she spotted a chalkboard and scrambled to find a piece of chalk so she could write her name down. As she undid her scarf to see her name more clearly, she heard an eerie whirring sound, so she slowly looked behind to see a doll just like her, dressed in the exact same hot pink coat, right down to her baggy trousers. Alma was astonished.

Wider Curriculum – Rivers

This half term, our topic is Rivers.

So far, we’ve started our KWL grid and learnt about how the River Thames has changed over time.

In assembly, we had a special visitor. Her name was Leah Chowdhry. She was the first British-Asian woman to swim through the English Channel from England to France. It took her nearly 15 hours to complete. She was very inspirational.

Thanks for reading our blog, we hoped you enjoyed it.
Thank you
