This half-term our topic is World War 2, and our big question is: What where the causes and consequences of World War 2. Our first trip took place on Wednesday 7th of January to the Imperial War Museum. We saw different types of guns, tanks and wrecked planes. We explored different places in the museum like scraps, bunkers and real turrets.

Earlier this week, we learnt about the causes and consequences of WW1. This gave us a better understanding of why WW2 happened. The main causes of WW1 was that people wanted power, money and mostly land. Countries formed large alliances and created huge weapons to defend themselves. WW1 took place in 1914 – 1918 which lasted about 4 years. The WW1 was not properly resolved so instead of more fighting, the countries signed a contract called “the peace treaty”.

Now let’s move onto WW2, the reason why WW2 happened was because Germany attacked Poland for land, and had to get backed up by other countries like the United Kingdom and France, who declared war on Germany two days after the German invasion in September 1939.

Next we will locate the allies and axis. We look forward to learning more about WW2 as it was a major event in history and we can learn from the history. The past influences the present and future.

Thanks for reading our blog.
