On our trip to the Ideas Store, Umar saw Roald Dahl books, Amber saw thousands of books on lots of shelves, Mya saw many books that she had not read yet, and Sophia saw chairs everywhere that people could use to sit down to enjoy their reading.
Ezan was fascinated by all the computers, and he noticed that you had to put in a username and password to use them safely. The trip was a chance to immerse ourselves in the world of authors and learn more about why a library is such a valuable resource for a community to have. While we were there, Pharaoh heard nothing but silence because people didn’t want to talk or be disturbed while they were using the many things the library had to offer.
Ataullah counted how many books were in the picture book section because he was interested in using his maths to work out just how many the library had altogether. Cristopher paid close attention to counting how many Diary of a Wimpy Kid books there were so he could look at them again, because he has delighted in reading them in our school’s own library in recent weeks.
It was actually quite thrilling to have a visit to the Ideas Store, and the children all agreed that coming with their families is definitely something they would like to do more often. Umar even wondered whether people know that there are chapter books and non-fiction books too, so we said we would share everything we have found out about our community’s library today with as many people as possible.
