Kahlo Class had such a fun morning playing a new problem solving game using dominoes this morning.

We are taking part in the Count on Us Primary Challenge which is an exciting maths programme engaging pupils in a range of maths activities to challenge, motivate and inspire!

There are many activities that encourage teamwork and collaboration and today we tried out: DOMINOES CHALLENGE!

The Read Team raring to go!

Each team has a set of dominoes and a grid with numbers 0-6.

The teams must match their dominoes to the digit pattern in the grid – quickest wins!

This was one of our challenge grids and each team had to work together to put the right dominoes in the right place to match the number grid. Sometimes there was more than 1 solution!
Selecting the right dominoes…
Marcus, Sayef and Aisha working well as a team
The Orange team – Dawud, Ayaanah, Mohammed, Mysha, Michael-James and Ishmam – found a great system for sorting their dominoes so they were quicker to find! The put them in this pyramid style from smallest to biggest
All smiles from Abdul and Akram!
Focus and concentration wins the game!
Teamwork makes the dreamwork
Everyone got involved and worked hard to solve the puzzles!
Team Green separated their “doubles” so they were easier to find – great strategy!

Some children from Year 5 will be going to a tournament later in the Spring and Summer terms to compete against other schools at the maths games. We aim to get plenty of practise in at school!

If your child would like to play the games at home, please speak to Ms Hodge who can provide some resources.
