On Monday, we made eco-friendly bags for DT. We started off by drawing our 2D designs and labelling the
the measurements that we agreed on with. During this period, we encountered many difficult decisions due to the vast selection of bags. Eventually we all came with a decision between our partners.
This is Uzair labelling his design.

After that, we made a prototype of our bags with paper and tape to see if they would work. We used the measurements that we annotated on our designs. It was successful because it served its purpose; storing several items.
This is Zaid’s prototype.

Next, we started the make part. We brought in materials from our homes such as fabric E.G. old clothes, bed sheets and some eco-friendly puppet fabrics. To start making the bags we cut out measurements to match our designs. Then, to bind the pieces together, we used resources such as sewing machines and hot glue guns.
This is Ahsan cutting out the shapes according to his measurements on his 2D template.

This is Tahman sewing together his pieces of fabric to make his bag.

Now it came to the evaluation. We wrote double page spreads about the entire lesson. In our double page spreads, we were very critical about what went well and what didn’t. We learnt that:
1. It won’t always be perfect
2. Resilience pays off
3. Imagination builds ideas

These are some of our outcomes:
This is Yasin’s bag

This is Riden and Ibrahim’s bag

This is Ahsan and Tarannum’s bag

This is Azwan and Manha’s bag

This is Ariana with her bag.

Hope you enjoyed reading all about our DT Day.
