This week in Hamilton Class, we have been exploring the wonderful world of planting as part of our spring learning! With the change of season, the children have been discussing how the weather has become warmer and sunnier, creating the perfect conditions for plants to grow and thrive.
We have been learning all about different types of plants, as well as identifying the parts of a flower and understanding what each part does. The children showed great enthusiasm when creating their own colourful spring flowers, and many were able to label the different parts independently!
To bring our learning to life, the children became gardeners for the day. They had the opportunity to explore soil, seeds, water, and tools such as small shovels. This hands-on experience supported their fine motor skill development while also helping them understand how plants grow.
As it is the perfect season for planting, Hamilton Class has started an exciting project – growing our very own sunflowers! The children carefully planted seeds into the soil and gave them a drink of water. Now comes the most important part… being patient and watching as they begin to grow!
We are very excited to see how tall our sunflowers will grow over the coming weeks!
