We have been bringing in our model habitats to share with the class and the school. Some of us made the woodland habitat, some of us made the desert habitat and some more habitats are still coming in. Yusra’s habitat was a man-made habitat because it was a house.

This week, it was the next group’s turn for Show & Tell. We practised good oracy, which is listening and speaking.

In maths, we learnt that a 3D shape has faces. They can have a lot faces, and they can have a few faces, but you can identify the name if you know your shapes well. We had to find the right shapes with some details about how many faces they had.

In English, we are researching about minibeasts so we can write our own report. We learnt that snails have teeth, and they eat other snails if they are really hungry. We enjoyed writing sentences because we can share more information with them. Did you know that snails have over 14,000 teeth and that the teeth are on their tongue!

On the last day of the week, we had Forest School and gardening. It started to rain a bit, so we went inside so it could stop. When we went outside again, we made custard on a fire after collecting sticks, and we observed organisms in the school garden. The school gardens are like a woodland habitat because there are lots of trees.

Parents and carers, your support with helping your children to make their model habitats at home has been greatly appreciated. It has meant a lot to the students, and having the opportunity to extend the learning beyond the classroom is priceless. Your children have come in each day brimming with curiosity and eager to articulate how they combined their imagination and a bit of hard work to create their models with you.

Thank you.
