This week, we played a game called Four Go with our partners.

We used our problem solving skills conjecturing and generalising to help us with this game.

The questions we had to answer were the following:
Does it matter if you go second or first?
Is there a pattern?
What good ways do you have of winning the game?

Conjecturing is making a sensible guess and generalising is finding a pattern.

First, we drew a number line in our books from 0-20. We then chose two numbers from the grid and either multiplied or divided them. If the answer was above 20 then you missed a turn. However, if it was below 20 then you’d mark the number on the number line. Partners chose to mark using a circle or triangle.

The key to winning is to have 4 numbers in a row on the number line, but if your opponent puts a number in between any amount of your numbers the chain is broken.

We found it very enjoying and it was very easy once we figured it out.
