The final day of the Year 5 residential began with breakfast before the children loaded their luggage onto the coach, ready for the final adventure of the trip.
They then made their way to Saltdean Beach, where they met up with Ellie and Jo. The children began the morning with a rock pooling activity, exploring the shoreline and discovering a variety of fascinating sea creatures. Working together with nets, spades and buckets, they found sea snails, shrimps, fish and even some crabs. The children showed excellent teamwork and enthusiasm as they searched the rock pools and learned more about the marine life living along the coast.
After rock pooling, the children headed to another part of the beach for some splash and swim time. With the beautiful weather creating perfect conditions, there was plenty of excitement as the children enjoyed cooling off in the sea. They demonstrated sensible behaviour throughout, listening carefully to instructions and staying safe while having lots of fun.
Once everyone had dried off and changed, the children took some time to reflect on their experiences, thinking about all they had seen, heard, felt, smelt and tasted during their time at the South Downs. They then enjoyed their lunch together before preparing for the journey home.
As they headed back to school, the children could look back on a truly memorable residential. From exploring the farm and hiking the South Downs to making bread, preparing their own lunch, rock pooling and enjoying time at the beach, they embraced every activity with enthusiasm, curiosity and resilience.
What a wonderful residential it has been! We are incredibly proud of all the children for their excellent behaviour, positive attitudes and willingness to try new experiences. They have created memories that will last a lifetime. 🌞🌊🦀🚜🏕️
