What an incredible term it has been in Year 3! The children have worked so hard and shown such enthusiasm across all of their learning. We are very proud of them.

Maths

This term, we built on our understanding of multiplication and division, practising different strategies and applying them in problem‑solving activities. The children showed real determination as the challenges increased.

More recently, we have begun exploring measurement. The class have enjoyed using rulers, metre sticks and scales to compare lengths, heights, and mass- lots of practical, hands‑on learning!

English

In English, we have been diving into the beautiful book Our Tower. The children loved exploring the story and spent time innovating it and creating their own versions and adding imaginative twists. Their creativity really shone through, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow.

A highlight of our writing this term was receiving a special letter from Greggs! Inspired by this, we learned how to make delicious tuna wraps and then wrote our own instruction texts on how to make the best tuna wrap. The children took such pride in their recipes and now we are all wondering… Which wrap will Greggs choose as the award-winning creation?

Science

Our science topic this term has been The Human Body and Year 3 have absolutely loved it. We explored:

  • how our muscles move,
  • how our bones support and protect us,
  • why nutrition and exercise matter,
  • and what makes a healthy, balanced diet.

We ended our unit with a fun investigation into the nutritional value of different foods, including comparing two very popular biscuits: Digestives vs. Rich Tea. Ask your child which one they think is the healthier choice- you might be surprised!

Music

To finish the term on a high note (literally!), the children had a chance to learn the ukulele. They were so excited to explore the instrument, practise chords and play simple melodies. Their enthusiasm filled the classroom, and we loved hearing their confidence grow with each session.

A Wonderful Term

It has been a busy, exciting and rewarding term in Year 3. The children should feel incredibly proud of everything they have achieved. We hope they enjoy a well‑deserved rest and we look forward to more fantastic learning ahead!
