Today was an exciting DT day where Year Six children worked together to cook delicious vegetable samosas from scratch. They began by preparing the ingredients, carefully chopping onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, peas, sweetcorn, and green beans.

The vegetables were cooked in oil until golden brown, then seasoned with spices such as paprika, turmeric, garam masala, salt, and pepper. After adding the potatoes, the mixture was left to cool before the children started shaping their samosas.

They learned how to fold and seal the pastry using a simple flour and water mixture, creating both triangle and spring roll-style shapes. Once ready, the samosas were fried to a crispy finish.

To go alongside their samosas, the children also made a refreshing mint dip using Greek yoghurt, fresh mint, garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

Throughout the activity, the children developed a range of skills, including chopping, mixing, shaping, and following instructions. Most importantly, they had a fantastic time learning and working together!
