For DT day, we made bridges! We started our day by exploring different structures and thinking about what makes a bridge strong and stable. We looked closely at real bridge designs and sketched our own ideas. Each design showed what the bridge would look like and how it would support weight.

Design

Make

Once our designs were ready, it was time to build! Using materials such as cardboard, sticks and tape, the children carefully constructed their bridges. They had to problem‑solve as they worked, making adjustments if parts became wobbly or unstable. Creativity and teamwork were key as everyone focused on creating a bridge that could stand independently and look impressive.

Evaluate

After building, the children tested their bridges to check strength and stability. They discussed what went well for example, strong joins or well balanced structures and what they would improve next time. This reflection helped them understand how real engineers refine their ideas to create stronger, more reliable designs.
