This week Hamilton class has been learning all about Diwali – the Festival of Lights! We discovered that Diwali is a joyful celebration full of colour, light, and happiness.

Some of the ways Diwali is celebrated is by decorating the house with beautiful Rangoli patterns that symbolises happiness. Hamilton had a go at making their very own beautiful Rangoli patters using stencils and different coloured powders and chalks. We practiced both our fine motor skills and problem-solving skills by making sure we are scooping the right amount of powder to cover the pattern. We didn’t stop there – we also made our very own diya lamps! We used all sorts of medias such as cellophane, tissue paper, pipe cleaners, sticks, felt tip pens and pencils to make our bright and creative lamps. We even made our very own henna patterns, by tracing our hands and drawing all sorts of floral patters! We loved discovering the different festivities people around the world celebrated. What a bright and colourful week it’s been in Hamilton Class!
