A virtual visit to the Museum of London helped year 3 dive into their Stone Age – Iron Age topic this week. We learnt more about prehistory by becoming archaeologists for the afternoon and investigating the Havering Hoard.

As well as other activities, Hepworth and Hokusai were shown 7 prehistoric objects and asked to guess what they were. The children’s imaginations kicked into gear as they mimed using the ancient artefacts and wondered how the tools had helped humans at the time.

With our interest in prehistory piqued, the hosts discussed chronology; the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic Stone Age; the Bronze Age and the Iron Age; and we took a close look at the treasures found in the Bronze Age hoard.

A short video from Harry, the young student who discovered the hoard, ended the fun afternoon of discovery 🔎
