What a fantastic Autumn term it has been in Year 2 Tagore Class! The children have worked incredibly hard and shown great enthusiasm across all areas of learning.

Thank you for bringing in snacks, children happily munched away!

The children had a wonderful Christmas party, where they enjoyed sharing food, laughter, and spending special time together as a class. It was also a time to say a heartfelt goodbye to two friends who will be moving on.

In History, the children really enjoyed learning about the Great Fire of London. They explored how the fire started, how it spread, and how London changed afterwards. The class asked thoughtful questions and loved comparing life in the past with life today.

As part of our curriculum, the children explored how Samuel Pepys, an eyewitness to the Great Fire of London, recorded events during this important time in history. They created their own coffee stained paper to make their work look historical and learnt how Pepys used shorthand and symbols in his diary. The children wrote secret messages using symbols, including fun facts such as their favourite foods as well as key facts about the Great Fire of London. They also decorated their front covers with glitter and gold paint, taking pride in presenting their work creatively.

Have a go at decoding the symbols!

In Maths, we focused on place value with double digit numbers. The children practised recognising tens and ones by making numbers using concrete resources such as Dienes, before seeing it, writing it, and saying it using correct mathematical language. They confidently used key maths vocabulary, known in class as our ‘star words’.
