Year 6 have been learning all about why we remember the fallen British soldiers and service people through a two minute silence each year. On the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month in 1918, Armistice was signed to stop the fighting in the First World War. This year it is the 100 year anniversary of that important moment in history.
Year 6 led an assembly today, sharing what they had learnt, to the whole school. The assembly included actual photographs from the First World War shared with us by Melissa, who works in our school office. The whole school also sang a song called ‘Remember’, which we have learnt especially to mark this occasion.
