Year 1 had a fantastic time celebrating DT Day by designing, making and reflecting on our very own puppets!

First, we became designers. We carefully drew and labelled our puppet ideas, thinking about what we wanted our puppet to look like and how we would decorate it.

After that, we practised different sewing patterns and showed great resilience while learning this new skill. We worked really hard and kept trying even when it felt a little tricky.

Once we were ready, it was time to start making! We created our hand puppets and decorated them according to our designs. To embellish them, we used lots of exciting materials including eyes, eyelashes, mouths, buttons, fabric, wool and sewing to bring our characters to life.

Finally, we took time to reflect on our work. We talked about what we liked about our puppets and what we found challenging during the process. It was lovely to share our thoughts and celebrate our achievements. Many of us were very proud of our finished puppets — and they looked fantastic!

Well done, Year 1, for showing such creativity, resilience and brilliant designing skills! 🎭🌟
