Last Thursday, the whole of year 3 piled onto two coaches and set off to Bury St Edmunds. Nearby, is the the West Stow Saxon Village; a place where archaeologists and historians work out what life would have been like for early Anglo-Saxon settlers. We got to explore all the different houses they have built and was able to understand how the Saxons would have built them. We then got to eat our lunch at the edge of a woodland, and breath in the wonderful country air. After that, we then went inside the museum they have there. On display were all the artefacts they had found on the site, and not all were from the Anglo-Saxon times. People had been living in West Stow ever since the stone-age! We even got to get a closer look at some artefacts and try on some replica cloths. It was literally the best day ever!
