Today, all of year 3 travelled to the Museum of London to learn more about the Romans. We got to see the remains of the Londinium (Roman name for London) amphitheatre which is a few feet underground, under the Guildhall Gallery.. There, we imagined we were Roman spectators ready to watch the bloody gladiator tournaments. We dressed up as Roman ladies, slaves, merchants, soldiers and gladiators to help us picture what it would have been like. We also had the opportunity to handle a few artefacts from the Roman times, which was pretty cool, considering some of the items were almost 2000 years old!
After lunch, we walked around the Roman Gallery inside the museum and saw some very interesting Roman artefacts, including 2000 year old graffiti! From the gallery, you can get a closer look at the Roman city wall that still stands today outside of the museum.
