Year 5 are learning all about STEAM subjects – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths. Today they combined art and maths through learning about the work of Wassily Kandinsky.

“He was born in Russia. He liked to listen to music when he painted. His favourite composer was Wagner,” Marni, Ngoc Anh and Khadijah.

He made abstract art.

“Abstract means a bunch of shapes and marks that makes a lot of different things,” Erdra

“And you don’t know what those things are. There is no right or wrong answer,” Chyanne

One of his most famous paintings is, Squares with Concentric Circles.

“Concentric circles are circles that share the same centre point,” Khadijah

We made our own 3D version of Kandinsky’s masterpiece, through threading and weaving.
