This week Gawain, a sound artist working with Wigmore Hall, visited year 1. We met Gawain in October when he went with us to Mudchute farm. He brought along his guitar and taught us a song about a farmyard. He also brought his sound equipment which he connected to the large metal covered shapes we had made – these included a llama, boot, horse and train which represented some of the sounds we heard at the farm. When we pressed on the shapes they played the sounds we helped Gawain record at the farm! Next, we made a graphic score which we then played with percussion instruments. We had a great time and are looking forward to his next visit in a weeks time.
