Year 4’s learning theme at the moment is Parliament. After talking about how people protest outside Westminster about matters that are important to them; like the suffragettes campaigning for women’s votes or children protesting for fair funding of schools, we looked at the work of Bob and Roberta Smith.
Bob and Roberta Smith is the artist name of Patrick Brill. He makes art inspired by protest signs and slogans.
We thought about what is important to us, and what we would like to protest about, before making our own Protest Art. Although some children had similar ideas to protest about, others completely disagreed. We realised that like parliament, there were lots of different arguments and debates about what is important.
