Here in our nursery we introduce children to philosophical discussion through the exploration of ideas. We use anything from pictures and stories to help generate discussions on a variety of topics.
We’ve been learning the story of “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”. In our circle time activities this week we have been looking at pictures of the bear from the story and thinking about how the bear might be feeling. What is the bear doing? How might the bear be feeling? Why do you think the bear feels this way? These are all example of questions we might ask.
We’ve also created a display in the classroom with all the children’s pictures on it where we will put sticky notes containing the responses to the questions we ask them doing our philosophy activities. Have a look when you come in!
