Dear Parents and Carers
Congratulations to Peggy Angus Class, who had their class assembly this week. It’s always great watching our children celebrate what they have learned in front of an audience, and this week we had a fantastic performance all about Parliament. Please do keep an eye on the school calendar for when your child will be performing in their class assembly during the year.
It’s our Bike It: Be Bright Day! It was wonderful to see our children coming in to school this morning in bright clothes and decorated bikes and scooters. Making sure you are safe and are seen on the roads, especially as it is dark in the early mornings and evenings at this time of year.
Tagore class went on a trip to The Museum of London Docklands, where they got to meet Captain Hook! He told them all about his voyages across the world, and how some places are named after the first people who set foot on land there. He also introduced the children to instruments and sayings used at sea such as ‘ship shaped’ and compasses. The children then went on to make their very own sextants. The Museum of London Docklands is a brilliant place to go with children, and only a short journey from Lansbury Lawrence.
Lansbury Lawrence Arts Council
The Lansbury Lawrence Arts Council consists of children from years 3,4,5 and 6. The Arts Council work together to oversee our arts provision and help to make it better for everyone at school. Their first major project is to work on designing a special resource for our reception children, which is a project organised through Bow Arts.
The Arts Council have been working with professional designers, Make:Good, to design a ‘Curiosity Cart’ for our young children to use for creative learning. The Council first researched our school and how the design would have to work to be moved around, before interviewing reception children about what they liked to play and learn about. Models were then made, thinking about what had been learned through the design process so far.
Keep an eye on the school blog for further progress of this exciting project.
Well done to our Learners of the Week!
