This week, Year 3 had an exciting trip to the Natural History Museum.
Our learning theme this half term is Stone Age to Iron Age and in that, our science focus has been rocks and fossils. Going to the Natural History Museum gave us an amazing chance to see some incredible fossils, skeletons and rocks for ourselves. Some of the things we saw were millions of years old! In the afternoon, Hepworth class got the chance to meet Mary Anning, a famous fossil hunter who discovered hundreds of incredible fossils and was an important person in history for helping us to understand fossils today. Meanwhile, Hokusai class were being investigative scientists themselves, using their senses and scientific equipment to discover clues about different natural objects.
Back at school, we continued our investigation into rocks and fossils by sorting and classifying different types of rocks. We are all well on our way to becoming Britain’s next top scientists!
