This week Bluebell class has been learning all about Ramadan. We talked about fasting and the evening meal (Iftaar). Many children were eager to share their own experiences of Ramadan with their families.

We made a traditional iftaar dish from Turkey called Börek.

First, we mashed the soft cheese with a fork.
Then we mashed some boiled potatoes.
After that, we mixed together two eggs fresh from our school hens with baking powder and some milk. Bilal said, “It’s growing,” and Norah commented, “It smells delicious!”
We then oiled the baking tray and layered the pastry on.
At home time, we shared out the Börek. Norah said, “Yummy, yummy on my tummy!”
