Last term, Hokusai class were invited to travel back in time to Anglo-Saxon London. We met some amazing characters along the way, and helped them solve their problems. We were able to understand what life was like in London almost 1,500 years ago. We also learnt that All Hallows by the Tower still has some Roman and Saxon parts to the building structure meaning it’s the oldest church in the city of London!

We then travelled back to present day London and met the actors who played the characters. They did some role-playing with us based on the Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf. After that, we got to write our names using Anglo-Saxon runes (letters) with a quill and ink. We were happy that pens have been invented now, because it was quite messy.
