A subordinating conjunction joins a subordinate clause to a main clause.

Example: Even though it was cold, I still went outside.

Even though = subordinating conjunction

Even though it was cold = subordinating clause (it doesn’t make sense on its own)

I still went outside = main clause

You can also position the subordinating conjunction after the main clause.

I still went outside even though it was cold.
