As part of our Architecture in Schools project with Open City, year 4 visited the Barbican today. We were given a tour of the Barbican with architects, Jestico + Whiles.
The Barbican is really interesting as it has lots of different areas; it is built on a large site that had been bombed during the war. We looked at the shared spaces including the magnificent Concert Hall and Theatre Hall. There is even an indoor garden, called the conservatory.
After looking at the Barbican architecture, which includes lots of concrete, we walked to the nearby office of Jestico + Whiles. Robbie and Raluca told us all about being an architect and some of the projects they have worked on.
